I walked into the guitar shop certain I was buying a Gibson custom shop ES335 and walked out with an Eastman T486. Aside from the massive price difference I just felt that the quality of finish on the Eastman was so much better. I’ve since sold all my Gibson’s bar a ‘75 SG I have which I sorely tempted to part with....If Eastman made a SG style guitar it would be an easy choice to be honest

I didn't feel like digging through the comments to see if I'd already chimed in on this. I bought a VERY EARLY version of the SB59/V and this video was one of the reasons for that. Mine is the same as shown here with the varnish finish and Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups (which they've since changed to Lollar). I have not been disappointed. It actually replaced my '07 Gibson '57 Historic Collection Reissue. It sounds better, feels better and plays better. If you can get past owning a "Gibson" like I have than the Eastman delivers the goods at a much better value. And I say that even considering the '24 pricing that these things are at. They are totally worth it, including the non-varnish models. In comparing with Gibson I strongly feel they sit somewhere between the Gibson USA models and Historic Reissues, although in my case I liked it better than my Gibson reissue. Great comparison video, thanks.
